About Tea

Tea varieties differ according to soil, climates, and differences in processing. Nearly all tea is grown in the Far East, but there are some tea plantations in Russia, Kenya, Argentina, South Africa and even Hawaii and Charleston, South Carolina.

All tea has some caffeine, the darker the tea, the more caffeine, however Rooibos and Herbals are caffeine-free.

VARIETIES OF TEA

BLACK teas are fermented, left in a cool, dark and damp place for a time then heated to stop the fermenting process.

OOLONG teas are semi-fermented.

GREEN teas are heated after picking so there is no fermenting process.

WHITE teas are picked only two days a year and are not processed but dried and withered in the sun. It is very light in color, mild in flavor and contains minimal caffeine.

ROOIBOS is an herbal with needle-like leaves that come from the Red Bush which is grown in South Africa.

HERBAL or TISANES are not actually teas, but concoctions of peels, flower petals, leaves, herbs, and spices.
